Bloom Township Food Pantry is proud to have packaged and distributed over 400 full holiday meals to neighbors in need over the 2018 December holiday season. The 3rd Annual Holiday Basket was a heavy duty grocery bag filled with their choice of turkey or ham and fresh and canned vegetables, gravy and stuffing mix, milk, eggs, oil spread and brownie mix for dessert. It was with the assistance of our incredible volunteers and donors that we were able to accomplish such an act.
Support for this event began well before distribution. Bloom Township Board of Trustees has a long standing commitment to provide a full holiday meal for families to enjoy and we have generous neighbors that donate annually for holiday basket foods. This year there was a surprise donation of aluminum foils, pans, cutlery, and snacks that were a great add to the bags. Our Highway Department then lent a hand picking up and unloading items ordered from a local vendor and FedEx Cares provided hours to package items before distribution day. Support on December 19 for our 3rd Annual Holiday Basket was strong with volunteers coming from UAW/Ford Community Service Team, Prairie State, Governor’s State, Bloom and our loyal weekly volunteers. The same loyal volunteers that assisted with the 4,502 monthly pantry packages distributed that year.
Bloom Township Food Pantry appreciates all those that have raised awareness, donated, and volunteered. It was such a joyous way to end the year, spreading cheer through meals!
